Overview

One of the most travelled short walks out of Kathmandu is the Chisapani Nagarkot trekking which gathers a bit of everything in one place – mountains, local life, nature and tranquility of the valley. Starting at Sundarijal, we first hike through Shivapuri National Park and after passing a creek, a waterfall, and terraced hillsides. Beautiful Tamang villages will greet you as you climb up to Chisapani, a hilltop settlement with fresh air, and amazing views over the Himalayan range. The route goes straight through the ridgeline to Nagarkot and the farms. You could even see Mount Everest, Langtang and Ganesh Himal on clear days. The fabulous town Nagarkot, located in the vicinity of Kathmandu, gives tourists an opportunity to enjoy the sunrise and sunset which are surrounded by the Himalayan mountains covered by snow. The last day of the trek descends into farmlands and traditional villages. It brings us to Changunarayan, a UNESCO World Heritage site and temple, both with centuries-old stone and wood carvings, including a “jagannatha” (the Lord of the universe) relief carving that is the earliest kinetic sculpture. The hike will not be so demanding even to a first-time visitor. Travelers seeking some much-needed culture, nature, and scenery and do not want to forego the closeness to civilization will adore it. Then it is by far the best way to make a hurried tour around Kathmandu.

We will have to cross some sparkling streams, small waterfalls, and stone steps in the shade of forest along the way. Afternoon Journey: We will have a break and lunch at Mulkharka village with views over the Kathmandu Valley. This route again moves into Borlang Bhanjyang. It is the highest part of the day and you can take your first sight of the snow-capped peaks of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. Once we are in our teahouse we have time to relax and take in a gorgeous sunset at the Langtang range.
